The Dog Mobile

The Dog Mobile

23 July to 28 August 2016 V22 Louise House

Artists Valerie de Ghellinck and Nico Duvinage will be travelling from Belgium to London in a mobile home which is the is the property of A Dog Republic and has become part of a project by artist Nico Dockx.

de Ghellinck and Duvinage see it as a portable laboratory. It was a living and working space during their project for the Beaufort exhibition, after which they convinced the museum to put the mobile home on the road for projects or interactions with other artists. Rather than allowing it to collect dust in the despot of a museum, A Dog Republic would like The Dog Mobile to form a kind of memory and to function as a living artwork.

As part of V22 Summer Club 2016, de Ghellinck and Duvinage will be doing a residency called Summer Club Kitchen Workshop.

A Dog Republic was initiated in 2011 by artists Jean-Baptiste Decavèle, Nico Dockx and Helena Sidiropoulos, architect Yona Friedman and musician Krist Torfs. After many conversations in Paris and Antwerp on the constitution of their republic, they convened to have various manifestations, in Ludlow38 in New York (2012), De Vleeshal in Middelburg (2012), Esther Donatz Gallery in Munich (2013), Mu.ZEE in Ostend (2013), 55th International Art Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia (2013) and Galerie mfc-michèle didier in Paris (2014), to bring peace rather than political violence.
