Adult Learning Lewisham: Textiles Day
Thursday 18 August 2016, 1–4.30pm V22 Louise House
1-3pm Garment alterations demo
Drop in for an informative demo and discussion with Adult Learning Lewisham pattern cutting and clothes making expert Anastasia Trotman. Learn how some basic garment-making techniques and alterations can transform the look and fit of a charity shop find, or bring an unloved top or skirt back to life.
2-4pm Textured fabric bracelet workshop
Join textile artist and tutor Linda Litchfield for a drop-in workshop to learn how to hand sew a textured fabric bracelet using a decorative technique known as ‘Suffolk Puffs’ (all materials will be provided). Linda will also discuss some of her own work that covers knitting, embroidery, textile embellishment techniques, and patchwork and quilting, as well as the range of creative textiles courses that she will be teaching from September at Adult Learning Lewisham.
1-4:30pm Course advice & guidance, Adult Learning Lewisham
Come and chat to Selina Eldridge (Publicity and Communications) and Denise Darlow (Curriculum Leader for Textiles), and find out more about the courses we run at Adult Learning Lewisham. With over 700 part time courses on offer, that are suitable for both beginners and those with more experience, there is something for everyone, from printmaking, floristry and glasswork, to clothesmaking and tailoring, photography, jewellery making, and much more.
