Colour is a Meaningful Language
Sunday 30 July 2017, 12.30–2pm V22 Louise House
'Colour is the key. The eye is the hammer. The soul is the piano with its many chords. The artist is the hand that, by touching this or that key, sets the soul vibrating automatically.' Wassily Kandinsky
Join artist Victoria Kovalenk, in this workshop in which the emphasis is colour and its combinations; colours that go well together, colours that form certain meanings. Together you will see how an artist can express their feelings or communicate a message through their choice of colour.
Produce Matisse-like cut-outs experimenting with shapes, colours and composition.
This workshop includes a short introduction into the Colour Theory developed by Bauhaus lecturer Johannes Itten.
Art supplies will be provided.
Interactive Workshop: Sunday 30 July, 12.30pm
Recommended for ages 14 years and over.
The workshop will last 90 minutes.
Anyone under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
Victoria Kovalenko graduated in MA Photography from the Sir John Cass London Metropolitan University in 2010 and in BA Art Criticism from the Krasnoyarsk State University in 2004. Her photographs and cut-outs have been featured in numerous exhibitions in London and abroad. She currently lives and works in London.
